Self Evaluation

How well did the footage go:
- Continuity flowed well in London where there was a shot with our actor walking around an alleyway corner which looked empty and isolated.
- The time lapse was very successful both times we used it. I was very proud of how well it went from filming it to creating the time lapse in editing.

Does it fit the Genre:
- Some of the scenes we shot in London does fit the genre, however, the shots in the Studio i would say we would need to tweak as it does not fit the genre due to not having low key lighting.

Did this create appropriate mood/atmosphere:
- The London scenes did create a mystery type atmosphere/mood. However, we need to re-shoot our interrogation scene.

Is controlled, smooth, steady, professional?:
- The shots in London are smooth and quite steady as we used a tripod. I would say the shots in the Studio weren't as steady as we were trying to capture high angles which we found difficult.

Interesting & filmic (Preliminary)?:
- I feel our footage is interesting and makes you keep watching as you don't get to see the guy in London face much which adds suspense to the scenes.

Everything you need to tell the story?:
- I think we have everything within our shots to tell our story, it is also a classic theme of thriller (crime) so it flows well.

Discuss have done in the edit this week, techniques have you applied?:
- I've made two sections of the sequence into a time lapse, as well as adding different effects onto my individual piece. I have added colour correction onto some clips to make the skin tones more realistic instead of being too exposed or pinky looking.

What have you developed/learnt?:
- I have learnt to make sure that low key lighting is crucial for a thriller to set the atmosphere of the story. I have developed on my directing skills as before i was not as keen to tell people what they should be doing within a scene. I feel i have gain confidence in the story and learnt how to make a time lapse look professional.

Filming on Thursday 12th and Roles

We filmed yesterday in the Studio with our actor Matt. We were lucky in many ways yesterday as we found another actor called Charlie who was in business dress which helped us with having a real person interrogating the scene as originally we didn't have any one to do play this part.
Max also came to this shot as he moved his driving lesson around to a later date.

From filming this we discovered who was best at what, roles were then distibuted:
Nicole: Camera woman, this is because she has a good understanding of the rule of 3rds and has a steady hand with the camera. She also has a keen eye on what is key within a frame.
Ashleigh: Director/Equipment: I find that i help Nicole with seeing whether a frame looks good as well as helping direct the actors. I also am looking after the equipment and making sure it is all charged.
Max: Director, Max has shown to have some really creative ideas and therefore when we need help figuring out what looks best on a scene, Max helps show us different options that would look great for the shot.

We got it done in the right amount of time given and we are on schedule.
I have taken some photographs of the props that i made for the interrogation scene:

I made these props for our interrogation scene. I made sure that i got the correct kind of documents by searching on Google the images of what were actually inside police records. I also made our actor Matt actually put his fingerprints on the sheet and filled in the information to give it an authentic realistic feel to our scene. I wanted to make it feel as real as possible. Nicole borrowed a tape recorded from the modern foreign languages department which we used as if we were actually recording an interrogation on a witness.
These key features made our scene look as realistic as possible.

Final Dates for Shooting

We were unsuccessful to shot over the winter break. There were a number of reasons for this and we have also realised that this is not good time management. If we were with a professional production team we would of wasted money on hiring the equipment and time of the members of the team. We have learnt from this and won't be making the same mistake.

We have made new dates to shot, Thursday 12th for our interrigation scene and Sunday 15th for our main central London scenes.

At the moment the most information i can get for Sunday's weather in London is that the sun rises at 8am, sunset is at 4.20pm. It will be 4 degrees with a slight wind at 9mph, easterly.

I've found out more about the weather on Sunday so here is an update on the weather:
